Clyde Marina Secures Future Growth in Ardrossan with CMAL Agreement
Clyde Marina Ltd, one of Scotland’s largest marina and boatyard facilities and a leading tourism business in Ardrossan, has announced the signing of a Heads of Terms agreement with Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL), supporting the next phase of growth and investment in Ardrossan Harbour.
The agreement follows CMAL’s recent acquisition of Ardrossan Harbour and its long-term plans to redevelop the Arran ferry terminal and upgrade harbour infrastructure. Working in partnership with CMAL and waterside regeneration specialists Peel Waters, the agreement is set to secure the harbour’s future while safeguarding its economic contribution to the Ardrossan community and Scotland’s thriving marine tourism sector.
Simon Limb, Managing Director at Clyde Marina Ltd, said: “We welcome CMAL’s very positive approach to working with the marina to secure the growth and development of the harbour area, continuing Ardrossan’s maritime heritage for many years to come.
“We understand that the period of the ferry facility redevelopment will be complex. Clyde Marina and its boatyards will continue to operate normally throughout this period, enhancing North Ayrshire’s tourism economy and supporting local businesses.”
Peel Waters have been overseeing the long-term development and masterplan of the area for over 25 years. During this time, they have transformed former brownfield and underused land into a vibrant, mixed-use coastal destination.
This includes the restoration and repurposing of the historic pumphouse into a successful restaurant and café, the delivery of new office space, the development of an ASDA supermarket and petrol station, and the continued growth of Clyde Marina itself. Peel Waters has also supported several residential developments around the marina, contributing to the area’s growing community.
In addition, Peel Waters has funded and delivered essential infrastructure critical to the area’s regeneration, including new roads, a roundabout, and extensive remediation works to prepare land for development.
Brian Lavalette, Scotland Property Director at Peel Waters, added: “This agreement marks a significant step forward for Ardrossan Harbour and reinforces the strength of partnership working between Clyde Marina, CMAL and Peel Waters.
“Having led the regeneration of this area for more than 25 years, we have seen first-hand the positive transformation it can bring to local communities. We are proud of the investment and infrastructure we have delivered to date, and we look forward to continuing to support the harbour’s future growth, ensuring it remains a key destination for marine tourism and economic activity in North Ayrshire.”
