CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON FIRST HIGH-RISE DEVELOPMENT AT TRAFFORD WATERS

Named ‘The Anchor Residency’ Bridgestone Construction’s 208-home scheme marks latest milestone in delivery of Peel Waters’ new Trafford Waters neighbourhood

Construction has started on the first high-rise residential development at Trafford Waters, marking a major milestone in the delivery of Peel Waters’ emerging waterside neighbourhood within TraffordCity.

Contractor Bridgestone Construction has been appointed to deliver The Anchor Residency, a 208-home apartment development comprising a mix of one, two and three-bedroom, build-to-sell homes next to the Manchester Ship Canal.

The development will become the first high-rise residential scheme to be built within Trafford Waters and forms part of Peel Waters’ wider vision to create a new mixed-use community delivering up to 3,000 homes, new public spaces, employment opportunities, community facilities and supporting infrastructure.

Located adjacent to Trafford Way, the development will consist of two contemporary buildings of eight and 13 storeys and will create a striking new gateway into Trafford Waters.

The start of construction represents the latest chapter in the transformation of Trafford Waters, following the completion of the neighbourhood’s first affordable housing development delivered in partnership with L&Q earlier this year and the opening of Montpelier Estates and Tanglewood Care Homes’ elderly care facility in 2025.

Together, these developments are creating a diverse range of housing options at Trafford Waters, supporting Peel Waters’ ambition to develop a thriving and inclusive new community.

The Anchor Residency forms part of the first phase of residential development at Trafford Waters, which is being created on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Once complete, Trafford Waters will deliver up to 3,000 new homes, extensive public realm, a new primary school, amenity space and around 20 acres of open space.
Its location within TraffordCity places residents close to major employment, retail and leisure destinations including Trafford Park, MediaCity, Old Trafford and The Trafford Centre, alongside future developments planned across the wider destination.

Completion of The Anchor Residency is expected in Autumn 2028
