Sainsbury’s is set to bring its unbeatable combination of quality fresh food, great value and innovative products

Sainsbury’s is set to bring its unbeatable combination of quality fresh food, great value, innovative products and brilliant colleague service as it opens the doors to its brand-new store at Princes Dock, Liverpool Waters. The new store will support the growing number of businesses and residents based within Peel Waters’ vibrant waterfront district.

Located in a ground floor unit beneath the 760-space multi storey car park, the new 5,748 sq. ft Sainsbury’s Local store on William Jessop Way, looks out on to Princes Dock and will feature several convenient amenities including a cash machine, in-store bakery, and Argos collection point.

convenient facility for the local community

With over 2,000 residents now living at Liverpool Waters, as well as hundreds of workers and a year-round events programme, the new store will provide another convenient facility for the local community which will offer delicious, well-sourced food, including a carefully curated range of food-to-go, vegan and ‘free-from’ options; as well as a variety of fresh produce, cupboard essentials and well-known brands.

The new Sainsbury’s store was granted planning permission by Liverpool City Council last year and was previously occupied by Bean Café and Holyrood Nursery. Both businesses have remained open, with Bean Café recently completing a high-spec fit-out of their new coffee house and deli following their move into the adjacent unit.

The new store opening follows a series of exciting announcements for Princes Dock, which is set to become the home of the UK’s first Nordic style public floating sauna; as well as being the location of the much-anticipated swim/run knockout event ‘The Eliminator’ which will take place at Princes Dock on Saturday 18th May.

20 new jobs for local people

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re delighted to be a part of this fantastic new development and we’re excited to welcome customers to try out our new store for the first time this week. As well as putting Sainsbury’s commitment to providing good food for all of us on the doorstep of a new community in the UK, our investment in Princes Dock has created 20 new jobs for local people. Our new store team is looking forward to serving and helping customers in Liverpool Waters for years to come.”

Liza Marco, Senior Asset Manager at Liverpool Waters, said: “Following huge growth at Princes Dock in recent months, and an increasing number of visitors to the neighbourhood, it’s great to see Sainsbury’s joining the large number of businesses now based here.

“We have lots of new commercial tenants at Princes Dock, a thriving water-based leisure sector, a growing residential community of over 1,500 apartments, plus construction is now underway at Patagonia Place, which will bring a further 330 highly sustainable smart homes to the neighbourhood.

“In addition, with over 200,000 sq ft of net zero carbon offices, and the opening of ARRIVE workspace, it’s fantastic that this ever-growing community now has access to a Sainsbury’s Local store selling a wide range of groceries, convenience foods and beverages.”
